Washington – Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48) expressed his satisfaction following the passage of H.R. 6090, known as the Antisemitism Awareness Act. Issa stated, "The Congress came together yesterday and spoke with a clear and strong voice that told the truth about the recent and widespread rise of antisemitism – history’s oldest hate. But this was more than words; our vote is the setting of a standard that many justifiably thought might not be necessary in the times of today."
Issa emphasized the significance of the bipartisan support for the act, noting, "But after witnessing for more than six months a widespread and growing tide of antisemitism in America – much of it centered on the campuses of our colleges and universities – a bipartisan supermajority of the Congress took appropriate action."
The Antisemitism Awareness Act aims to address the escalating issue of antisemitism in the United States, particularly within educational institutions. The overwhelming support for the bill underscores the Congress's commitment to combating discrimination and hate speech targeting the Jewish community.
The passage of H.R. 6090 reflects a united effort to raise awareness and take concrete steps to address antisemitism, signaling a decisive response to the challenges faced by the Jewish population in the country.
