Lakeside, CA – Congressman Darrell Issa (CA-48) recently joined the community of Lakeside at the Lakeside Rodeo to celebrate Western heritage and East County tradition. Issa expressed his admiration for the event, stating, "The spirit of the West is truly alive here, and it is an honor and inspiration to see tradition, community, and heritage come together in Lakeside."

During his address, Issa highlighted the significance of the Lakeside Rodeo amidst challenges faced by similar events, saying, "At a time when rodeo is being targeted, cancelled, and misunderstood, our home is showing what it is truly about: Respect and care of animals, love of the great outdoors, and the passing down to the next generation the spirit that led the way West."

As the Lakeside Rodeo marks its second century of existence and 60th birthday as an annual event, Issa commended the values it upholds, stating, "I can’t think of a better place to teach the values we share and appreciate a proud way of life that has endured for centuries." He also expressed his gratitude to key figures involved in the event, saying, "My special thanks to Lakeside Rodeo Chairman Tim Armstrong, my friends leading the Lakeside Chamber of Commerce, and I can’t wait to see the 61st edition next year."

Moreover, Congressman Issa's commitment to preserving Western heritage is evident through his establishment of the Congressional Rodeo Caucus. This initiative aims to recognize and safeguard the Western way of life, advocating for policies that support the continuation of rodeo events across the country.
